Beauty is in the “I”

The notion that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is widely held, and the simple concept behind this project is to replace that “eye” with an “I”. What would happen if you were to regard yourself, even if only for a moment, through the eyes of a person who thought you were beautiful? What might you see?

Eye, the Beholder is a project created to encourage women and men worldwide to do just that. To let go of the preconceived notions of what beauty is and allow yourself a moment to look at yourself without comparison. To take back the “eye”. To consider what about you is beautiful in your own eyes.

I invite you to contribute a photograph depicting your favourite physical feature. Feel free to submit more than once and to do so anonymously. All that I ask is that, along with the photograph, you include a sentence that begins-

“My _______ is/are beautiful because…”

It is my intention to, in time, compile a selection of these images in a book that will be dedicated to women and men of all ages. So share, and spread the word! Let’s reclaim beauty for ourselves.
